This Privacy Policy describes how Baseline ("Baseline," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with the Baseline mobile application (the "App") and the website located at resetBaseline.com (the "Site," and together with the App, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.
Baseline is a behavioral operating system that helps you design an environment to protect your attention and follow through on the commitments that matter to you. Providing this Service requires us to process certain information about you. We are committed to collecting only what we need, being transparent about how we use it, and giving you control over it.
In plain terms:
Account and profile information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in using Apple, we receive the account identifier and the information you authorize Apple to share. We also store profile and preference settings you configure, such as your daily start time, check-in time, and time zone.
Goals, anchors, and planning content. We collect the goals and daily anchors (commitments) you create, including any long-term goals, target dates, and baseline descriptions you choose to enter.
Check-ins and reflections. We collect the responses and reflections you record during your nightly check-ins.
Focus session activity. We collect information about focus sessions you run, including their duration and completion status.
Coaching interactions. When you interact with the in-app coach or the attention "Gate," we collect the messages and context you submit, along with the responses generated for you. (See Section 4 regarding third-party AI processing.)
Messages to your future self. If you use the Future Self feature, we store the message content you write and any photo you choose to attach, along with its scheduled delivery time.
Support requests. If you contact support, we collect the information you submit, such as your message, category, and any screenshot you choose to attach.
Waitlist information. If you join our waitlist through the Site, we collect your email address only.
Device and push-notification data. To deliver notifications, we collect your push-notification token and associated device information, including a device identifier, device model, and operating-system version.
Diagnostic data. We may collect limited technical and diagnostic information, such as app version and error or crash information, to maintain and improve the reliability and security of the Service.
Screen Time and app-usage data. Baseline uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to help you manage app access and protect your attention. With your permission, this functionality operates entirely on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers, our database provider, or any third party, and we do not have access to it. You may grant or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings. This processing is subject to Apple's frameworks and policies.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited circumstances described below.
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers process information on our behalf and are bound by obligations to protect it and use it only for the purposes we specify:
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Baseline, our users, or others.
If Baseline is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we will delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (CCPA/CPRA). These may include the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us as described in Section 12. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
For users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing include the performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), your consent (for example, for notifications and Screen Time access), our legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Service), and compliance with legal obligations.
The Service is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address in Section 12, and we will take appropriate steps to delete that information. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures include access controls and row-level security on stored data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We operate the Service from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These jurisdictions may have data-protection laws that differ from those of your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
The Service may interoperate with, or contain links to, third-party services, including Apple. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you use, including Apple's privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our handling of your information, please contact us at:
